Take It Forward – April 18-21, 2023 – The Henry Ford

Presented by Hagerty

For 2023, NAAM returns to the Motor City with a conference at The Henry Ford in nearby Dearborn, Michigan, from April 18-21.

Our theme is “Take It Forward” – an appropriately optimistic motto after years of worldwide pandemic and economic uncertainty. We’ll look toward a brighter future with sessions and experiences that allow us to share our successes and learn from our challenges.

We’ll follow our usual conference format with a welcome reception on Tuesday evening, sessions on Wednesday and Friday, field trips on Thursday, and our banquet and NAAMY awards on Friday evening. Specific schedule details will be released shortly.

The Stahls Automotive Foundation was created to build an appreciation for history, with a mission to educate, motivate and inspire young people with a passion for vintage vehicles, and to help them understand the automotive industry’s impact on society, history and everyday life. Stahls has more than 80 cars on display, and each one demonstrates special creativity and imagination in its engineering and design. Don’t miss the petroliana or the music machines, either!

5:30pm-9:00pm
Packard Proving Grounds, Shelby Township, Michigan - Closing Banquet and NAAMY Awards Ceremony
Packard Motor Car Company established its proving grounds in 1927. The 560-acre complex included a 2.5-mile, high-speed concrete oval track; miles of test roads of various surfaces and conditions; an airplane hangar; a repair garage; and a lodge to house the manager and his family, complete with dormitories for visiting engineers. Following Packard’s end in 1956, Curtiss-Wright and then Ford Motor Company operated the site. The Packard Motor Car Foundation began working to preserve the site in 1999. Today, it hosts weddings, events, and a popular farmers market.

NAAMY Awards
The NAAMY Awards are a nationwide annual contest that recognizes, honors, and promotes creative and professional excellence in the fields of curation, education, collections stewardship, marketing, and other related museum endeavors. In addition to gaining personal satisfaction and earning respect from colleagues, winning a NAAMY award increases a museum’s prestige, and it is a point of interest with both private and institutional donors when applying for grants.
